CASTABLES
AL KARAWAN Refractories offers a series of Castables for different applications. These are packaged materials containing appropriately proportioned binders and graded aggregates for achieving desired properties. Castables when mixed with water will produce refractory concrete.

DENSE CASTABLES
HIGH PURITY DENSE CASTABLES are refractory Castables suitable for high temperature applications, all of which contain high purity refractory cement as the refractory binder. The impurity levels of all these Castables are very low. These Castables are available in various grades. Each grade of Castables is suitable for a specific range of operational conditions.
These refractory Castables are hydraulic setting and can be cast or moulded to any shape and can also be suitably modified for gunning of furnace linings.
MAXHEAT Castables are a group of high purity dense Castables, all of which contain high purity, high alumina cement as the refractory binder. A series of MAXHEAT group of Castables are manufactured and their classification is based on the type of refractory aggregates used.
MAXCAST is a group of very high purity White Tabular Alumina based castables meant for critical applications in fertiliser, refinery, petrochemical and steel industries. These castables can withstand service temperature up to 1850°C in CO and hydrogen atmospheres.
SALIENT FEATURES of these castables are high bulk density, high strength at all temperatures, excellent workability, good abrasion resistance, excellent resistance to thermal spalling and good volume stab.

INSULATING CASTABLES
AL KARAWAN Refractories offers a range of INSULATING CASTABLES in the MAXLYTE series to conserve heat in furnaces. They are light but adequately strong and have low conductivity, thus serve as either hot face or back- up insulating refractory lining.
MAXLYTE Castables are produced in the density range of 400 to 1600 kg/m3. They are available mainly in two different grades - medium purity and high purity. The high purity (low iron) variety is suitable for reducing environment. In addition to standard products, tailor-made compositions are also supplied to suit customer requirements.
AL KARAWAN Refractories also offers MAXCAST, a bubble alumina based insulating castable, which is suitable for use up to an application temperature of 1800°C. This product has an extremely low level of impurity, high strength, low density and low thermal conductivity.
