Comments on Dense Castables Data
These products are mixtures of different raw materials and aluminous hydraulic binder. The properties, therefore, are subject to variations, as the raw material themselves may vary. The properties shown under typical value column are mean values from quality control figures and the properties under specification column are guaranteed values of the product.
Nature of Bond: The nature of bond may be ceramic, hydraulic, chemical or organic. Where several bonds are used together, the bond is designated according to the nature of those bonds which play the principal part during hardening.
Installtion Method: Apart from method given in data sheet, in some cases the product can also be applied by different installation methods like pouring, trowelling etc.
Base Raw Material: This is the essential raw material conferring particular properties to the mixture.
max Service Temperature: The temperature is based on the product being heated on one face only in a clean atmosphere. Heating on more than one face, mechanical load, or the presence of corrosive dust, certain gases or slags will cause the maximum service temperature to alter.
Water Required for Casting: This test data is mentioned based on the good ball - in -hand consistency required for casting when the product is tested as per IS 10570-1983.
Reversible Thermal Expansion: This test is done as per IS 1528 (PART 19): 1991 on pre-fired cast prisms which are prepared as per IS 10570-1983
Chemical Analysis: Carried out according to IS 1527 - 1972.
Dry Density: Determined according to IS 10570 - 1983.
Cold Crushing Strength: Determined according to IS 10570 - 1983.
Modulus of Rupture: Determined according to IS 10570 - 1983.
Screen Analysis: Determined according to IS 1528 (PART 14) - 1974.
Refractoriness: The cones are prepared as per procedure mentioned in IS 10570 -1983. The test is done as per IS 1528 (PART 1) - 1980.
Permanent Linear Change: Determined according to IS 10570 - 1983.
Thermal Conductivity: Determined as per water calorimetric method.
Packaging: In HDPE bags with polythene liner inside.
Storage Life: The period indicated begins with the date of production and is based on the storage under cool, dry, frost-free conditions. If the period is exceeded, the material does not necessarily become unworkable. Yet in this case, it is recommended that material is tested prior to installation. Other than the above storage conditions may affect the storage life of the material.
